The ultimate goal is to fill your day with high pay-off activities that are building connections and filling your pipeline. Too often salespeople unknowingly let valuable time get lost forever which results in lost sales.<\/p>\n<p>Time to be proactive and take back control of your in-box. Are your emails out of control?<\/p>\n<p>Did you know?<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>144.8 <em>billion <\/em><\/strong>emails are sent daily<\/li>\n<li>An Average person receives <strong>416 <\/strong>emails\/month<\/li>\n<li>An average person spends <strong>28% <\/strong>of their day looking at their inbox<\/li>\n<li>An average person deems <strong>14% <\/strong>of the emails they receive as \u201cimportant\u201d or \u201cmust read immediately\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Is 28% of your time spent reading and responding to emails?\u00a0 This could mean that you are spending \u00bc of your day looking at email!\u00a0 That could be up to 2 hours per day during prime selling hours!\u00a0 Of course, email is a tool that is used for selling and some of that is selling time.\u00a0 However, I can bet that a lot of that time is handling issues instead of building relationships toward selling.<\/p>\n<p>Here are<strong> 6 tips<\/strong> to put you back in control of your in-box:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Do not keep your email consistently open<\/span>:\u00a0 Studies show that the most productive people schedule time within their day to check email.\u00a0 Set aside specific time frames through-out your day to check your email.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Keep focused on your present task<\/span>:\u00a0 Turn off email notifications that my pop-up through-out the day. It instantly breaks the focus of your brain on what you are doing.\u00a0 Communicate well the times that you deal with email so that you set proper expectations about response times.\u00a0 Be assertive and enforce your boundaries.\u00a0 If you check email at the beginning of your day, around lunch time and at the end in 15 minute increments.\u00a0 This is plenty of time to still be communicating effectively.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Quickly Make Decisions About Emails<\/span>:\u00a0 When you check your email, make quick decisions about each one.\u00a0 To Dos, Calendar Events, Research, or Trash \u2013 simplify!\u00a0 Then move on.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Put an Auto-Response on your email<\/span>:\u00a0 We live in an age where people expect us to respond immediately.\u00a0 However, that breaks up our day and takes us out of our zone from the productive activity at hand.\u00a0 People want communication so set up an auto response that thanks them from reaching out to you and that you will be checking your email between 12 \u2013 1pm and from 4:30 \u2013 5:30pm.\u00a0 If this is an emergency they can contact you on your cell phone.\u00a0 Otherwise, expect a response between the times above.\u00a0 Take back your life.\u00a0 Set proper expectations.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Organize email folders<\/span>:\u00a0 Organize folders for storing emails by projects or clients.\u00a0 Quickly move in-active emails and files from that area to keep your organization clean and up to date.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Keep emails short and concise<\/span>:\u00a0 Keep your own emails as brief as possible.\u00a0 Be concise and to the point.\u00a0 This shows respect for the time of others as well as your own time.\u00a0 It also will encourage a quick reply from the recipient.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Apply these quick tips and see how much time you can add back to your day!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MAXIMIZING YOUR MINUTES Proactive vs. Reactive: Is email controlling you?
